Wasn't sure how this, when first put in mouth but the the flavors, were wild and good!
I'm generally a purist when it comes to chocolate. The various flavors imparted from the growing region of the beans themselves and then he roasting process are plenty diverse and enticing in of themselves - why bury those with added flavors? But, this bar should give any chocolate loving purist pause - and cause to reconsider. It's a delicious combination. And speaking of delicious combinations, layer this on a graham cracker topped with a toasted vanilla marshmallow and welcome to s'mores' heaven!
Have reordered this previously as we do enjoy the unique flavor and the smoothness of the chocolate.
We did a side by side with the Hudson Bourbon and prefer the Cinnamon Maple Bourbon which adds another dimension in taste even though the percentage of cocoa is a little different. The delicate sweetness of the cinnamon maple balances out the higher percentage of cocoa in this bar.
Post holiday chocolate nibbling can at times be a slog, a mindless “help me get through January” support. Then there comes a dark chocolate that suggestively offers itself. That insists one investigate the mystery of its flavors, which are more than the sum of its parts (cinnamon, maple, bourbon). As the enchantment of some forgotten incense, this chocolate takes one on a journey of introspection, and discernment, where far more is embedded than revealed. It is a temple for your taste buds.
