Review: Chocolate journalist (@thechocolatejournalist), Sharon Terenzi, recently reviewed the bar saying, "You don't become a multiple award-winner by luck. Smell of honey, incredible smooth texture (without being too creamy), notes of fudge, brownie, earthy brown butter, an incredible clean mouth and a long chocolatey aftertaste. Can't find one defect even if I wanted to!"
Origin story courtesy of Uncommon Cacao: On the southern pacific coast of Colombia, Tumaco is a region that has been hard hit by historic political conflict and plagued by narco trafficking. The predominantly Afro-Colombian population has faced a great deal of prejudice and sustainable local development has been hijacked by extensive penetration of paramilitary and narco groups. When Cacao de Colombia first explored the region back in 2011, they found cacao everywhere; drying on any flat surface farmers could find, including the road. The sheer volume of cacao was overwhelming, and the opportunity for quality and systemic improvement was obvious. Cacao de Colombia has worked with three community cooperatives to introduce centralized processing and drying. Because of the introduction of centralized processing and Cacao de Colombia’s expertise in high-quality flavor development, farmers today earn 70% more income from cacao today than they did when selling dried beans to the commodity market supply chain, and have a true sustainable alternative to coca production or involvement in the narco groups.
The chocolate is smooth, dark and absolutely delicious!! I could eat an entire bar in one day slowly piece by piece!
We throughly enjoyed this special dark chocolate.
It's good but doesn't seem as bitter as other 85% chocolate I have had but that's ok I still like it. I have not gotten the chance to taste the others I bought on last order, I stocked up because the sale! Also I'm just asking if you have any thoughts on making a Mint Chocolate at some point? I would love that!
It's super dark without the bitter taste often associated with high % cocoa. Highly recommend it.
Fruition knows how to get everything out of the chocolate they make. Whereas the Dominican bars are full of fruity, floral flavors, the Columbian bar is full of dark fruit and coffee notes. And, unlike many other 85% bars on the market, this bar is not exceedingly bitter.
I love this chocolate. Many 85% bars can be overwhelmingly heavy on the cocoa flavor without enough sugar content to deliver those flavors. Fruition nails it with this bar. The balance is perfect.
Wonderful experience letting it slowly melt in your mouth
Oh boy!! You guys are great. The chocolate is fantastic and the package come quickly. All the best
This was my first purchase of Fruition chocolates and I am very satisfied with the quality and distinct flavor. I appreciate that this dark chocolate bar is crafted with just two ingredients - single sourced cacao beans and organic cane sugar.
I love the dark, sweet, smooth flavor of this chocolate. The bittersweet taste is great to savor anytime. I’ve been known to eat an entire bar over the course of a day.
Such spectacular flavor, everything I hoped for and more.
loved the chocolate
I eat a lot of chocolate, almost all 100% (Fruition's current 100% is the best I've found), but I also enjoy a little sugar from time to time. This 85% bar is not only by far the best 85% I've ever had, it's the best chocolate bar period. Although I can't say I recognize the specific notes that its makers do, it is very complex and delicious. I hope that Fruition will be able to obtain these magic beans indefinitely.
Wow, thank you so much, Donald! So pleased that you are enjoying the 85%.
